Tsunoda tackled fitness for second Formula One season

Yuki Tsunoda experienced a mixed first season in Formula 1. The Japanese driver scored points immediately in his first Grand Prix, but also made many mistakes throughout the year. The AlphaTauri driver did end the season on a high with a fourth place in Abu Dhabi.
Huge boost for Tsunoda
The shaky results also regularly caused Tsunoda to be criticised and his driving style was regularly scrutinized. This in turn caused a lack of self-confidence. Fitness, confidence in himself and understanding the car made it a difficult season for the 21-year-old Japanese driver, he said himself in a conversation with Formula Rapida.
However, at AlphaTauri they did see Tsunoda's potential, which was rewarded with an early extension of his contract with the team. Tsunoda admits that this was a huge boost for him and also made him more confident. The Japanese driver scored a total of 32 points and finished fourteenth in the championship.
Tsunoda knows what he has to do
The Japanese driver is entering his two years in Formula 1 and for next season he knows better what to do. Especially in terms of fitness, he now knows better what is needed. "I had to train a lot especially on the neck, but I stuck to what I was already doing or just a little bit more." He also doesn't want to overtrain himself. "We also need to take enough rest and recharge for 2022."
