Alpine wants to compete for championships in three years with help from Renault
- GPblog.com
Alpine is working hard to get to the top in Formula 1. CEO Laurent Rossi believes that with the help of Renault, the next step forward can be taken.
Alpine has the goal of competing at the head of the Formula 1 field within five years. It has already scored its first victory in the bizarre 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, but that one win is not nearly enough for Rossi.
Renault continues to support Alpine for years to come
The next step, according to Rossi, can be taken with the help of parent company Renault. In conversation with Autosport.com he reveals that the Renault Group is providing financial assistance for five to ten years. Rossi says that Renault employs scientists who have been working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for twenty years. According to the Frenchman, these scientists can always be called upon by Alpine so that they can help devise, for example, racing strategies.
Rossi's goal is to be fighting for victories and preferably the championship in 2024 or 2025. What he believes will help with this is the budget cap that has been put in place. Other teams, such as Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, cannot keep throwing millions at their Formula 1 projects, which brings Alpine a little closer.
Launch of A522
Alpine will retain Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon as drivers in 2022. Next season's Alpine A522 will be presented on February 21.
