Norris fears for Red Bull and Mercedes: 'Extremely difficult'

McLaren hopes to compete for the world title in the coming years, thanks in part to the new regulations. Although Lando Norris has a lot of confidence in his current team, he also knows that it will be very difficult to get close to Mercedes and Red Bull Racing.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton battled hard. While both men fought each other to win the world championship, the other teams rarely managed to beat the two. McLaren did come close a number of times but also lost against them.

Next season everything should be different. The teams have to deal with new regulations that are strongly in favour of the McLaren car. Therefore, the British racing team hopes that with Norris and Daniel Ricciardo in the ranks in 2022 it can compete for the prizes.

Norris is realistic about world title chances

Norris thinks the team has a lot going for it to win against Mercedes and Red Bull, but also calls for them to remain realistic. "We know that without the wind tunnel it will be extremely difficult to beat teams like Mercedes and Red Bull, who perform at such a high level," he told Formule1.nl. "Almost impossible, unless you are really great in all other areas."
