The FIA does not see fit to add a new Formula 1 team to the driver's field for the time being. It means bad news for Michael Andretti who did see fit to make a bid.

The former driver tried his best to take over Sauber in 2021, but it came to nothing in the end. This did not discourage him, however, because in 2024 he hoped to be on the Formula 1 circuits with a new team. Andretti is even said to have already submitted the necessary data for this, only the collaboration seems further away than ever.

The Race states that the situation is clear. Where Andretti has indeed made initial contact with the FIA, it does not yet mean that the organization is seriously considering admission. It seems very likely that the FIA is not interested in adding new teams to the driver roster in the coming years.

FIA working towards more equal competition

In recent years, the FIA has worked hard to make the fight in the championship more equal.
