Domenicali sees plenty of alternatives for deleted GP Russia

The FIA came out with the news on Friday afternoon that this year's Russian Grand Prix cannot take place. In doing so, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali does not expect any problems in finding a new venue, he indicated in an interview with Formulapassion.it.
For the past eight years the GP of Russia has been on the program, but this season the FIA is foregoing the race. The reason for this is the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has already caused dozens of deaths. The organization therefore considered it unwise to travel to Russia.
Behind the scenes the FIA is now working hard to find a replacement circuit for Russia. According to Domenicali there is no panic about the current situation, because recent years have shown that many countries are eager to organize a Formula 1 race. The FIA has the circuits to choose from.
Possible expansion of race calendar still possible
Domenicali emphasizes that the FIA can even choose to organize not 23 but 25 races per year, but that it is important to find out if the teams can handle this. The CEO therefore believes it is important to continue to carry out mutual consultations so that everyone agrees on the racing calendar.
