Championship standings after Bahrain | Leclerc grabs maximum points
- GPblog.com
Ferrari had a very positive weekend. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz crossed the finish line first at the Bahrain Grand Prix, putting them on top in the world championship. Mercedes follows right behind them.
Prior to the race weekend, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing were favourites, but the retirement of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez changed things. Both drivers suffered engine problems and were unable to continue, leaving Lewis Hamilton on the podium.
George Russell was unable to get on the podium himself, but was more than happy with fourth place. Whereas Hamilton has fifteen points after the first race, Russell has twelve points in his pocket.
