Sebastian Vettel will return to Aston Martin for the Australian Grand Prix. The German missed the first two Grand Prix of the 2022 Formula One season, but was able to pass a negative covid test.
The 2022 Formula One season did not start well for Vettel. The German was in action for Aston Martin during the test days in Barcelona and Bahrain, but the British team had to do without the four-time world champion during the opening race in Bahrain due to a positive covid test. A week later Vettel was unable to compete at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix due to another positive test.
Return of Vettel
Vettel's absence caused much speculation and it remains to be seen how happy Vettel will be upon his return. Aston Martin has had a very bad start to the new era in F1 and Lawrence Stroll's team is in disarray.
However, the team announced on Twitter that Vettel will get behind the wheel of his AMR22 again before the next Grand Prix in Australia. Lance Stroll was accompanied by Nico Hulkenberg for the first two races of this season, but the team's reserve driver will now step down again in place of Vettel.
