AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly can't help but keep an eye on his competitors at Alpine during free practice. The Frenchman sees a strong Alpine and a dangerous Fernando Alonso.
Gasly sees a battle with Alpine
Gasly is enjoying the new layout of the Albert Park Circuit in Australia. According to the Frenchman, the track has become a lot faster and fits the philosophy of Formula 1 better. The fast cornering gives him a unique feeling. In a press statement, the driver elaborates on his first day on the track in Melbourne: "I think we had some problems and didn't have a perfect start. In VT2 we did improve a lot. That's very positive."
In the constructors' championship, Gasly's team is eight points behind Alpine. The Frenchman is already keeping a close eye on the competition on Friday. Alonso scored only two points this season, compared to the fourteen of his teammate Esteban Ocon, but the Spaniard looks very strong after this Friday.
"Alpine looks strong this weekend, especially Fernando, but we will focus on ourselves before we start qualifying and the race."
