Sebastian Vettel made sure that everyone could see that he is back. The German drove back to the pits on a scooter at the end of the first free practice session, but the stewards were not so amused.
Vettel get scooter keys from marshall
During the first free practice in Melbourne, the engine of Vettel's Aston Martin AMR22 broke down. The German had to come back to the pit lane and a helpful marshal offered to take Vettel back to his Aston Martin garage. At Motorsport.com Vettel said that he would rather drive himself, the marshal then gave him the scooter keys.
Vettel's lap of honor provided comical images for everyone except the stewards. They were not amused by the action of the four-time champion. Vettel had to report to the FIA for 'unauthorized use of a scooter', but didn't have to go to the stewards alone. In fact, the marshal had to show up as well.
No laps on Friday afternoon
The broken Aston Martin immediately meant the end of Vettel's Friday. The German did not return to action in the afternoon session, but let it be known that he will be in the car for the rest of the weekend.
