Marko on Gasly's performance: 'Decide in the summer break'

Red Bull Racing have a strong driver duo again this season with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Nevertheless, Helmut Marko is keeping open the possibility of choosing Pierre Gasly next race year, he told Viaplay.
Perez experienced his first year at Red Bull last season, during which he regularly faced criticism for his performance. Meanwhile, Gasly, who had driven at the Austrian racing team in the past, was doing extremely well at AlphaTauri and was hoping for a return to the formation.
However, Red Bull opted to continue with Perez, which led to disappointment for the Frenchman. It does not mean, however, that Gasly can no longer hope for a spot at Christian Horner's team, as Marko says it will make another decision next summer. "We are going to see how things go and decide in the summer break who will be Max's teammate in 2023," the advisor said.

Marko also points out that Gasly still has a contract within the team for the next calendar year. With that, he seems to want to suggest that it wants to keep the driver in 2023 anyway. Gasly has stated on several occasions that he is ready for the next step.
