Lewis Hamilton has yet to find his form this season. The British driver is all too keen to stand with his eighth world title in his hands at the end of the calendar year, but after his thirteenth finishing place in Imola, that goal seems unachievable for the time being. Nevertheless, Johnny Herbert expects Hamilton to fight back, he told Sky Sports.

Mercedes hoped to be back at the top of the world championship in 2022, but things are not going well for the German racing team for the time being. Not only does the formation suffer from porpoising, but also in other areas the car is not yet doing what team boss Toto Wolff would like.

The team is working hard behind the scenes to improve the care of Hamilton and George Russell, but so far it has not gone smoothly. Meanwhile, both drivers are having a hard enough time scoring points for Mercedes, as was evident in Italy. Hamilton ended up well outside the top ten.

Hamilton has not been beaten yet with Mercedes

However, Herbert saw the fighting spirit that Hamilton has in recent years. "Even when you are winning you still have to keep that motivation going and the proof in the pudding was last year," the former Formula 1 driver pointed to the Briton's perseverance. "You can never rule out Lewis, you can never rule out Mercedes."
