Perez: 'Feel that at Red Bull I have chance to be champion'

Sergio Perez had a reasonable debut season at Red Bull Racing, but in the end, he still picked up two hundred World Cup points less than teammate Max Verstappen. In 2022, the Mexican seems to be better in the race. He wants to go for the world championship then as well, he reveals.
Perez dreams of a title
Indeed, Perez tells Fox Sports that he will not simply settle for just victories. "I feel I have a chance to be champion with Red Bull. I have to prove myself. I know I can do it, I work for it and I don't just want to win races, today my focus is on winning championships."
Whereas Perez was incredibly happy with a podium finish in his years at Force India/Racing Point, the expectation level at Red Bull Racing is obviously a bit higher. Perez is not running away from that. He feels he owes it to his standing to have the goal of winning an individual title. "It would be disrespectful to myself and my family. I don't have to drive in Formula 1, I'm here because I want to be champion."
Perez seems to be emerging more and more like the perfect second driver within Red Bull. Although he does not feel that Max Verstappen enjoys the preferential treatment, if he were to fall too far behind in the World Cup, Perez would be happy to help his Dutch teammate again. "If I can support the team and I'm not in a position to fight then I'm going to do everything there like in Abu Dhabi last year. There are moments when you have to put the team first," he concluded.
