How does Ricciardo stay friendly? "I hated every second of that excuse"

The latest season of the Netflix series Drive to Survive depicts a fierce rivalry between Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris. The Australian says that all the drama we see in the series is there, but that Netflix may be adding to it.
Ricciardo is known as the good-natured and friendly driver on the grid. Leading up to the Miami Grand Prix, the McLaren driver joins American talk show The Daily Show. On television, the Australian discusses the Netflix series and his own rivalries on the track. The show's host, Trevor Noah, asks the driver what he thinks about the statements of Max Verstappen who said that things look more dramatic at Netflix than they really are.
Ricciardo partly agrees with Verstappen
Ricciardo: "There is certainly a lot of drama in the sport and there are real rivalries. What I think with regard to the Netflix series is that they sprinkle a little on top, but it is full of drama in itself." At Imola, Ricciardo had a crash with Carlos Sainz, pushing the Spaniard off the track on the first lap of the race. Ricciardo was able to continue, but Sainz was not. Noah wonders how Ricciardo can always remain so friendly, as the Australian immediately apologized in the paddock.
Ricciardo jokes, "I hated every moment of that excuse," and continues on a more serious note, "I now have the maturity to see how much we all put into the sport. We are very competitive and there are only twenty of us in the world. You respect the journey that everyone went through. Beyond that, I don't think anyone would apologize, but it made me, personally, feel better."
