Return of Vettel to Red Bull? "Time will tell"
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly and Sergio Perez seem to be the two who will decide who will sit next to Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing in 2023, but Sebastian Vettel might also be an option. The German's contract at Aston Martin is expiring and it is no secret that he maintains a very good relationship with Christian Horner and Helmut Marko.
Between 2010 and 2013, Vettel had his best years in Formula 1. Four times he managed to become world champion with Red Bull, after which he decided to move towards Ferrari in 2015. There he did not manage to write any new championships to his name. Since 2021 he has been driving for the Aston Martin team, but especially this year seems to be a disappointing season for Vettel.
The AMR22 is anything but competitive and so a year at the rear is imminent. Whether Vettel will sign a new contract is very much open to question, since he already indicated last week that it depends on the results this season. In any case, Marko is saddened to see Vettel having to do his laps in the back, as he recently hinted.
Vettel not talking to Red Bull
Whether a return to his old love Red Bull is a possibility? "I haven’t spoken with Christian (Horner) for a while, so I don’t know. I mean, time will tell,” Vettel is quoted by Express. It seems to be a political answer from Vettel in which he doesn't want to rule anything out, but the chances that Red Bull will go for the 34-year-old driver are nil.
