Horner believes in title chance for Hamilton: 'Then they just compete again'
- GPblog.com
Christian Horner does not believe that Lewis Hamilton has already been defeated in the battle for the title. While the seven-time world champion has already thrown in the towel, the Red Bull Racing team boss does not want to go there yet.
It is clear that Mercedes are not having the start to the season it had hoped for. The German team are third in the championship, but have fallen well short of Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. Hamilton could only manage a 13th place in Imola and didn't make it out of the first qualifying sessiomn in Saudi Arabia.
Hamilton still in the title race?
"He obviously had a terrible weekend (in Imola), but he is still a seven-time world champion. He hasn't suddenly forgotten how to drive," Horner said according to Racer.com. Hamilton himself thinks otherwise as after the GP in Imola he made it clear that hoping for a title is now hopeless.
However, with the completely new cars and regulations, Horner doesn't think you should count anyone out. "At some point, they'll solve the problems and they'll just compete again," concluded the team boss of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
