Tsunoda contradicts teammate: 'Overtaking in Miami seems difficult'
- GPblog.com
Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly go into the Miami GP weekend totally opposite. Not only do they differ in mindset after the Imola GP, but they also have different expectations of the upcoming race.
The AlphaTauri team had a particularly bad qualifying session in Imola. Gasly was unable to turn that into something positive on Sunday. The Frenchman finished outside the points and was put on a lap by the race leader Max Verstappen. Gasly wants to forget the weekend as soon as possible. Tsunoda, on the other hand, managed to turn the poor qualifying into a strong P7 and even calls the weekend one of his strongest races so far. They also differ on the expectations of Miami. Gasly expects that it will be easy to overtake and Tsunoda thinks not.
Tsunoda says opposite of Gasly
Tsunoda states in a press statement: "Miami is a new circuit, but fortunately we have three training sessions to get to know the track. Sector three is a kind of Formula E sector with a lot of tight corners. I think it will be fun, although I think overtaking is going to be difficult. So we have to qualify well."
Fortunately, both drivers still have three free practice sessions ahead of them to find out what is actually the case on the Miami circuit. Indeed, Gasly stated in his speech the exact opposite of what Tsunoda says above; that qualifying in Miami will be a lot less important than in races like Spain and Monaco.
