Qualifying duels: Small differences at Red Bull after Miami
- GPblog.com
Qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix produced a number of surprises. George Russell was disappointing and Lance Stroll managed to reach Q3 with Aston Martin. AlphaTauri was also well off with two cars in the top ten and Ferrari lived up to its status as favorite with both cars on the front row of the grid.
In Miami, Charles Leclerc will again start ahead of Carlos Sainz, for the fifth time this season. Lando Norris will also start in front of his teammate for the fifth time. Both drivers thus maintain their perfect score, as does Valtteri Bottas. These are the only three drivers who managed to keep their teammate behind them every qualifying session.
At Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen is 4-1 ahead of Sergio Perez, but looking at the average time difference, they hardly undercut each other. Of all the teams, they have the smallest gap between them, only 0.028 in favor of the Dutchman.
At Mercedes it is an exciting duel, where by Miami it is now 3-2 in favor of Lewis Hamilton. At Haas, the tension is also back, as Mick Schumacher has beaten his Danish teammate for the second time this season in qualifying. There too it is now 3-2 after five races.
