Schumacher critical of Vettel and Hamilton: 'I think that's childish'

The new competition rules have been a problem for some F1 drivers for a couple of weeks now. They have introduced a new rule whereby drivers are no longer allowed to wear jewelry during the race and furthermore they are only allowed to wear clothing that is approved by the FIA.
A few weeks ago it was just an announcement, but since Miami, the race committee has announced that they are going to check more strictly with possible penalties. Some of the F1 drivers were not happy about this, especially Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.
Experienced drivers do not agree with rules
Hamilton believes that jewelry can be worn while driving, while Vettel also wants to wear underwear that is not approved by the FIA. The German showed this by wearing underpants over his racing suit. Although the action caused a lot of attention, Ralf Schumacher does not like the fact that the drivers draw attention to the rules of the race director in this way.
"To be honest, I think it's all a bit childish," Schumacher told Sky Germany. "They should be in favour (of the rules) because it's about safety." According to Schumacher, the drivers are role models for the young drivers who are still driving in the lower classes now.
"The drivers who are now driving in Formula 3 and Formula 4 should also know and see that the big drivers are sticking to it. It's mainly about their own safety and it's crazy that such experienced people, who have seen so many accidents, make fun of them in this way." Hamilton wore huge amounts of jewelry in protest during the press conference, which was also a reaction to those new rules.
