And yet again it happened: in Baku, Lewis Hamilton lost to this to his teammate George Russell. While the young Briton celebrated his third place on the podium, the seven-time world champion got out of the bouncing Mercedes with severe pain in his back.

Different seating position

Both Hamilton and Russell still suffer from porpoising. Yet the latter seems to be able to deal with it better than his experienced teammate, athletically and physically. According to former driver Ralf Schumacher, it is not his age that makes Hamilton have more difficulty physically dealing with the bouncing. The German suspects that a different seating position makes it just a little worse for Hamilton.

Yet Schumacher sees at Servus TV also that Hamilton is not having the year he undoubtedly hoped for beforehand. "He is the loser of the season," says Schumacher. "There is this young man coming into the team from the outside, dominating the multiple world champion and an icon of the sport. That snaps him up."

Hoping for triumph

Schumacher praises Russell's season. The former F1 driver says he didn't expect how good Russell will be for the day. Whether he or Hamilton might win a race this year with the not-yet-fast Mercedes? According to the German, it cannot be ruled out. "Toto Wolff has said that something is in the works. I hope Mercedes will join, because a three teams championship is of course interesting," Schumacher says.
