Sainz honest: 'I don't know why everyone looks at our strategy'

Ferrari has a car with which it can fight for the world title this season. With a difference of eighty points between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, the Italian team cannot be satisfied, which has already led to a lot of criticism. Carlos Sainz does not always understand the criticism, he told Formula1.com.
The Spanish driver believes that the criticism of Ferrari is often fiercer than that of the competition. While he understands that his team has looked unhappy with its decisions on several occasions this season, he feels that the number of mistakes made by the formation does not differ much from the other teams.
"Strategy is always a talking point in Ferrari," Sainz began. "I don’t know why everyone looks at our strategy and over-analyses what we should have done. I guess it’s part of being Ferrari. There is over-analysis of our radio too. All our radio messages get broadcast. Maybe this gives an impression of chaos."
Sainz sees challenge for himself
Sainz is partially satisfied with his own season. The driver started his year disappointingly and saw Leclerc pull further away. During the race weekends before the summer break he managed to reach a higher and higher level, giving him confidence in the second half of the season.
"If you look closely at the last few races, I am performing at a very similar level to the top guys. I feel like I’m there. It’s just that price I paid at the beginning of the season is costing me this year."
