The Zandvoort circuit is not known for making it easy to overtake. Max Verstappen and George Russell hope it will be easier with this season's new cars, both drivers told GPblog after asking them at the press conference.

Russell is having a rough season with Mercedes. Where the German team showed what it is capable of during a number of race weekends just before the summer break, the team was less convincing in Belgium. It is expected that Mercedes will not start from pole position during the Dutch Grand Prix, so Russell will have to catch up with the competition.

The Brit expects more to be possible this weekend. "Overtaking should be easier. Felt a bit straightforward on the sim, but that might be different with a full tank of fuel. So we’ll see," Russell says.

Verstappen's view is partly different, as the Dutchman hopes to encounter few competitors ahead of him. "I hope not to overtake too much. For sure will be better. Interesting to see how DRS will behave in the banking, but it should not be a problem."
