'Second Verstappen' not likely: 'That happens once every hundred years'

Jan Lammers saw the Dutch interest in Formula 1, but also in motorsport in general, explode since the arrival of Max Verstappen. However, the sporting director of the Dutch Grand Prix does not see just anyone following in the footsteps of the Red Bull Racing driver.
'I really think Verstappen is the greatest of all time'
After the Dutch GP at Zandvoort, Lammers was a guest on the Beyond the Grid podcast. There he explained what Verstappen's success has meant for motorsport in his home country. "There's an enormous amount of Dutch expertise in motor racing rising, and I think that enthusiasm for motor racing has absolutely escalated through Max," Lammers begins.
However, the former F1 driver doesn't see a 'second Max Verstappen' appearing on the scene any time soon. "I don't think so. There will be a lot of very good racing drivers rising to the top, but people like Max Verstappen come around once every hundred years I think," he continues.
Lammers says it is very difficult to compare drivers from different eras, but still believes that one driver stands out: "Personally I really think - and if he hasn't proven that in the past then I'm convinced he will prove it in the future - as objectively as I can, taking my orange glasses off, I really that he's the greatest of all time."
