Free practice two in Japan was to be extended by half an hour so that next year's Pirelli tyres could be tested. This test has now been scrapped in Japan, due to rain.

Pirelli tests scrapped in wet Japan

On the wet Suzuka Circuit, there was little data to gather for Pirelli on the Friday of the Japanese GP weekend. The first free practice session was held on a soaking wet track and for the first half hour, the F1 teams even went out on the not so grippy Wet tyre just to get rid of as much water as possible and drive the track dry. It seems pointless for Pirelli to let drivers test the new rubber in these conditions during FP2.

Sky Sports therefore reports that the tests in Japan have been scrapped. Whether they will be rescheduled for the next GP weekend in Austin at the Circuit of the Americas remains to be seen. Pirelli tests were also already scheduled for the US GP weekend. That there will be an additional test event is possible, but not yet confirmed.
