Extraordinary revelation De Vries: 'I can now also reveal that'

Nyck de Vries is very grateful to be allowed to race in Formula 1 on behalf of AlphaTauri next season. The Dutchman tells De Telegraaf that he has worked hard for years and is therefore happy that this is the result.
"This is what I have actually worked for and dreamed about all my life until now. And now I'm just living that dream," De Vries states. "When I sat at my desk at home in Monaco recently and got the feeling that the puzzle was going to fall together, I did get up and jump up and down a few times."
De Vries comes in as a replacement for Pierre Gasly, who will race for Alpine next season. The French racing stable as well as Williams were also interested in the Dutch driver's services, but in the end AlphaTauri proved to be the best option.
De Vries on luck in GP Italy
Max Verstappen's compatriot owes his permanent spot at AlphaTauri partly to his strong performance at the Italian Grand Prix. Where he convincingly finished in the points, he reveals to the medium that he was very lucky in doing so.
"I can now also reveal that the safety car at the end of the race was very convenient for us. There was a brake problem. Without that safety car, I would have been brought in by the team and wouldn't have even made it to the finish. Physically, I was also completely spent. All in all, it was a dream scenario in the end."
