Aston Martin found to be in procedural breach but under 2021 cost cap
Nine teams have cleared the 2021 Formula 1 cost cap, with Red Bull Racing having a minor breach of less than 5%. Aston Martin, the other team rumoured to be in trouble leading up to Monday's announcement, have found to be in a procedural breach of the cost cap.
Nine teams clear
The cost cap was introduced for the 2021 Formula 1 season in the hope of bringing the field closer together. All teams, including Constructor World Champions Mercedes, have cleared the cost cap. Only Red Bull Racing have made a breach.
A rumour launched ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix that Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin were in trouble regarding the cost cap. But Aston Martin have been cleared and haven't breached it. Though the British team have made a procedural error in their report. The results were published on Monday following a delay of nearly one week.
The FIA report says they are now deciding the penalties for both Red Bull and Aston Martin. It reads: "Procedural Breaches can result in financial penalties and/or minor sporting penalties (in case of aggravating factors) as detailed in the financial regulation."
