Mercedes has brought an extensive update package to Austin. One part of it is a new front wing, but the team seems forced to ignore it this weekend. This is because the component would not comply with the regulations, Sky Sports has reported.
'Mercedes front wing does not comply with regulations'
Sky reporter Ted Kravitz has overheard that Mercedes' new front wing is not in line with regulations. The winglets would not be legal and therefore the team would be forced to abandon the component during the US Grand Prix.
The new front wing was just one of the updates Mercedes took to Austin. The rear wing and floor also received updates. The new parts are rumoured to account for a weight loss of five kilograms.
