Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are determined to produce a strong result in the United States Grand Prix and to give Red Bull Racing the constructors' title. For Perez, the challenge is greater from P9, but the Mexican feels strengthened by the massive support he is getting from the fans in attendance.
Warm welcome for Verstappen and Perez
The Red Bull duo were warmly welcomed by the fans at the Circuit of the Americas and there was no sign of any hostility towards the drivers or their team. Perez in particular, whose fans travelled in large numbers to Austin, received thunderous applause.
The Mexican has to fight his way through the field from ninth starting position, but is keen to get a strong result. "We will try everything today. It's a very special weekend for me with so much support here, and I really want to do well and I really hope I will make these people very happy," Perez said during a broadcast of Formula 1.
Verstappen is also looking forward to the race, in which he hopes for both victory and a good fight. "I think we should have a good race car, so I'm looking forward to today. Of course I hope we can win the race, but I'm also looking forward to a good battle," said the two-time world champion.
