Binotto on Red Bull: 'May have changed outcome of championship'

Mattia Binotto, in conversation with Sky Italia, reacted with incomprehension to Red Bull Racing's punishment for exceeding the budget ceiling. The Ferrari team boss fears it will be a licence for other teams to do the same.
Red Bull and the FIA came to an agreement after several talks. The Austrian formation will be fined seven million dollars, while it will also be allowed to spend 10 per cent less time in the wind tunnel.
For Binotto, however, this punishment was far from satisfactory. In particular, he points to the fine. "In fact, they overspent by two million, about two-tenths per lap. They may have changed the outcome of the championship," Binotto argues.
"Fines leave you free to spend your money elsewhere. So it doesn't cover the advantage Red Bull had. The fine is negligible because they did not reduce their budget ceiling. I hope it doesn't set a precedent. We don't want to exceed and stay legal."
Horner points out one-off mistake
Christian Horner revealed in Mexico on Saturday that the team wants to avoid going over the agreed limit again this year. The Red Bull team boss even stated that he knew with 100 per cent certainty that it will succeed.
