F1 LIVE | Second free practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix
- GPblog.com
The second free practice session of the Brazilian Grand Prix is the last chance for Formula 1 teams to prepare for the sprint race, scheduled later in the day. Extra attention will go to Kevin Magnussen. Indeed, the Dane was the big surprise in qualifying on Friday.

The Dane reached Q3 and managed to record the fastest time on the board early in the session. It was obvious that Red Bull Racing, Mercedes and Ferrari would improve on that time, but a crash by George Russell changed everything. After a red flag, drivers were not allowed to use their DRS and the track lost grip in the wet, which meant Magnussen took pole position.
While he will therefore try hard to prepare well for what is to come in the second practice session, Verstappen also has plenty of chances this weekend. Indeed, the Dutchman will start in second position, putting a win in the sprint race on the horizon.
Mercedes and Ferrari have a bit more work to do. For instance, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are in eighth and tenth place respectively. In the final practice session, the teams, therefore, have the important task of improving the car to such an extent that the drivers can start the sprint race strongly.
