Binotto spoke to Ferrari chairman and would be 'very surprised' at resignation

Last week, rumours surfaced that a reorganisation at Ferrari is imminent, with Mattia Binotto to be shown the door (as well as possibly Inaki Rueda and Laurent Mekies). Binotto and Ferrari debunked the reports and the Italian does not think he has to fear for his position.
Ferrari's season start was good with several wins, but due to reliability problems and blunders in strategies, the team lost out to Red Bull Racing in both world championships. After the summer break, development stalled as Ferrari decided to shift its focus to 2023.
Binotto on future
Binotto would now be held responsible for the fact that no wins followed after the Austrian GP. While the top man agrees it has been a difficult season, he is confident heading into next year. Binotto recently spoke with president John Elkann and from that he has a very positive feeling. He reveals that he would be "very, very surprised" if he were removed from his position.
"It has certainly been a difficult one because criticism is never easy to be managed. More than that, for me trying to keep the team focused and concentrated on the job. The criticisms are there to distract the team. And keeping a team focused is never easy. It has been difficult, but that will make me only stronger in the future. We need to count only on ourselves and that is the most important lesson of the season", he told BBC Sport.
