Marko rules out AlphaTauri sale: 'F1 remains best marketing tool'

Helmut Marko is confident that the death of Dietrich Mateschitz will not affect Red Bull's Formula 1 teams. The Austrian himself also has ambitions to continue in F1, but not at any cost.
The 2022 US Grand Prix was an emotional weekend for Red Bull. It lost founder Mateschitz, who had been ill for some time. The team did win the constructors' championship that weekend for the first time since 2013, after Verstappen had clinched his world drivers' title a week earlier.
Red Bull's future
According to Marko, however, there is no need to worry about the future of the brand. ''There is a general commitment from both shareholders that from a marketing point of view, Formula 1 is the strongest instrument, which is not is questioned. According to the shareholders, there is no plan to sell AlphaTauri. They want to continue what Didi Mateschitz created as a junior team,'' Marko said to Speedweek.com.
At 79, Marko is no longer the youngest himself, but the former racing driver is not thinking of retirement just yet. However, Marko does argue that the conditions must remain right. ''If the atmosphere doesn't suit me anymore, then it won't be an issue for me anymore. I can get off from today to tomorrow. But the fire is still burning,'' the Red Bull adviser concludes.
