New career for Steiner? Team boss will write his first book
- GPblog.com
Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is to publish a book about the 2022 Formula 1 season. At Twitter the team announces that the book will be released in April 2023.
The book is titled 'Suriving to Drive', an obvious reference to the Netflix series about Formula 1. Steiner is always featured prominently in the series, which has earned him a large fan base. The team will now build on that with this new book.
The book will be like Steiner's diary for the whole season. Told from Steiner's perspective, the book will mainly focus on the duties of a team boss over the course of a season. It will give readers a good chance to see a bit more behind the scenes at a Formula 1 team.
No better year for this book than 2022
Haas and Steiner chose a good year to keep a diary. 2022 was a tumultuous season for Haas. Expectations were high after 2021 was considered a lost year so that development for this season could be better implemented. However, the first controversy came before even a metre had been driven: driver Nikita Mazepin was expelled from the team over links between his family and Russian president Vladimir Putin after war broke out in Ukraine. Former driver Kevin Magnussen was brought back to replace him.
The second half of the season was again dominated by questions about the drivers: this time it was about whether Mick Schumacher would stay with the team. Also, plenty still happened on the track to write about: Schumacher grabbing the first points of his F1 career, the German's crash in Saudi Arabia for which he even had to go to hospital, and Kevin Magnussen capturing the first pole position for the team in Brazil.
Coming April 2023, Guenther takes readers inside Haas F1 Team for the entirety of the 2022 season in his first book ‘Surviving to Drive’, showing what takes place behind the scenes in running a Formula 1 team.
