Ian James expecting AlphaTauri to benefit for De Vries' qualities

Ian James expects Nyck de Vries to do well in Formula 1 next year, he reveals to Autosport.com. The current team boss of McLaren's Formula E team worked with the driver at Mercedes in the past and therefore knows his qualities well.
The Dutchman will take the place of Pierre Gasly, who is making the switch to Alpine, in 2023. The Frenchman has done extremely well with the formation in recent years, so De Vries' task will not be easy. Nevertheless, James expects the driver to succeed.
Indeed, James knows that De Vries carries special qualities with him, the main one being his communicative talent. Where he is able to be clear towards his team, he manages to do so in a diplomatic manner in all cases.
"Any team that he drives for is going to benefit from that approach," James stressed. "He has a way of saying what needs to be said, pointing out where improvements can be made, but doing it in a diplomatic fashion that doesn't get people's backs up."
AlphaTauri can put De Vries to good use
The Brit stresses that De Vries' qualities would suit any team, but it seems to be a good fit for him at AlphaTauri. After all, the team is coming off a down season, which means it needs to improve a lot on the car for next year. With that challenge, De Vries can help the team move forward.
