Fittipaldi remains reserve driver for Haas for fifth consecutive season

Haas confirmed on Tuesday that Pietro Fittipaldi will remain active as the Formula 1 team's official test and reserve driver in 2023. In addition to an operational role on the track, Fittipaldi will also support the team with commercial duties off the track.
Fittipaldi will team up with Haas for the fifth consecutive season as the team's third driver. The Brazilian-American driver has previously been allowed to test in the VF-18 and VF-19 and was also given the chance to fill in for the injured Romain Grosjean at two Grands Prix in 2020.
Last season, Fittipaldi also appeared in action for Haas during test days in Bahrain and two free practice sessions in Mexico and Abu Dhabi. He concluded the year with the Young Driver Test. With so much experience under his belt at Haas, it is therefore not surprising that the US team retains Fittipaldi for the new season.
Haas suits aggressive driving style Fittipaldi
"I’ve said before that continuity and consistency is key to success in Formula 1 and Pietro remaining with the team for 2023 makes me believe that we have strong foundations," Guenther Steiner says on the Haas website.
"Surprisingly, unlike many drivers on the grid, he’s said this car suits his aggressive style, which is music to my ears when track time is so limited. He’s an asset to our team so I look forward to seeing his continuation with us this season," says the team boss. In addition to his commitments at Haas, Fittipaldi will make his debut in the LMP2 class of the World Endurance Championship.
