Red Bull Racing won the constructors' championship last year and prolonging that title is the goal in 2023. The Austrian racing team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez did good business in the season opener in Bahrain by scoring a one-two. Title rival Ferrari immediately suffered a major setback. Ferrari seemed to secure at least 25 World championship points with
Charles Leclerc and
Carlos Sainz, but the Monegasque's stoppage threw a spanner in the works. Sainz crossed the finish line in fourth place, scoring 12 more points for his team. Red Bull is already on 43 points after one Grand Prix.
Aston Martin are currently number two in the World Championship. Thanks to Fernando Alonso's third-place and
Lance Stroll's sixth, the British formation already scored 23 points. In comparison, last year Aston Martin picked up just 55 points in a full season.
Bahrain also saw the first points for Alfa Romeo Racing, Alpine and
Williams. AlphaTauri,
Haas F1 and
McLaren are the three teams still scoreless.
