Anthony Davidson thinks a title fight between the two Red Bull Racing drivers is too much to ask. Davidson thinks Sergio Perez can only beat his teammate on his good day.

Red Bull are currently the dominant team in Formula 1. In the first two races of the season, the Austrian team scored two one-twos. In Bahrain, Max Verstappen won and in Saudi Arabia, Perez ran away with the victory. Verstappen leads the championship, as he took the point for the fastest lap in Saudi Arabia, putting him one point ahead of his teammate.

Title fight not attainable for Perez

According to Christian Horner, the Mexican drove his best race so far for Red Bull in Saudi Arabia. Davidson does not think Checo can bring enough to push Verstappen every race in the rest of the season. "I think a title fight between them is too much to hope for them," the British F1 commentator told the Evening Standard.

Davidson holds out hope for exciting season

The Brit's only hope left for an exciting F1 season is Red Bull's punishment. The team of Verstappen and Perez has far less time in the wind tunnel than other teams due to a penalty for exceeding the budget cap. “That’s what Red Bull’s mostly concerned about — the handbrake is coming on with their development. Things progress so rapidly in Formula One. Aston Martin are two seconds per lap faster than last year, if they find another second by halfway through the year then they’re on Red Bull speed.”
