Construction of the Las Vegas circuit is proceeding tightly on schedule now that a major milestone has been achieved, the Las Vegas Journal reports. The presidents of Liberty Media and Formula One are extremely pleased with the progress and expect much from the collaboration with 'Sin City'.
With seven months to go until the race, Las Vegas has already completed a big part of the construction of the paddock building. The project has certainly not come cheap: in total, Formula 1 and Liberty Media have invested five hundred million dollars in the creation of the race.
"It’s incredibly gratifying," said Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei about the progress around the circuit. "It’s a testimony of what Las Vegas can do, and I like to think it’s somewhat of a testimony of what we can do. There’s a lot of money in that build and a lot of resources, but I think it’s going to be a great result."
According to Domenicali, the race is a long-term investment
"It is a sign of respect ," adds Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali in his analysis. "when you invest in this magnitude, it means that we believe in this project for a long time in this community. We do believe F1 brings to Las Vegas something new, and we do believe that Las Vegas will bring Formula One something special."
