Sergio Perez has made excellent progress in the World Championship thanks to victories in the sprint race and in Sunday's race. The Mexican driver stands on 87 points after four Grands Prix, just six less than list leader Max Verstappen. Nyck de Vries, like Logan Sargeant, remains pointless.
World Championship standings after Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Verstappen failed to attack his teammate in the second half of the race after Red Bull Racing made a strategic blunder by bringing the two-time world champion in too early. Nevertheless, the Dutchman retains the lead in the World Championship standings, six points ahead of Perez.
Charles Leclerc completes the top three with his first podium finish of the season and gains a few places due to his first podium finish of the season, while Fernando Alonso consolidates his third place in the World Cup standings.
