Red Bull breathing down Ferrari's neck: Perez with fastest pit stop
- GPblog.com
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku naturally saw quite a few pit stops again. As always, DHL Motorsports lists these and attaches a ranking to them. In Baku, it was Sergio Perez whose new tyres were under the car the fastest.
Last Sunday afternoon, only three people had a stop under 2.5 seconds. The scoring of the pit stop competition works the same as that of the Grands Prix. Charles Leclerc dragged in 15 pit stop points in his Ferrari. His pit stop went in 2.49 seconds. Lando Norris ' pitstop was a bit faster still: 2.35 seconds. He got 18 points.
Leader Perez
Only Perez was faster than Norris, doing his pit stop in 2.30 seconds. The Mexican was awarded 25 points. Just like in the real race. The pit stop fastest pit stop in Baku only comes in at spot five on the list of fastest pit stops in this season. Despite having scored more points than Ferrari in this list, Red Bull is still not above the Italian formation in the standings.
The difference is just four points. Ferrari on 103 and Red Bull with 99 points. From the number three, neither team has much to worry about. Alpine is on a respective 60 points. That doesn't worry Ferrari and Red Bull. Check out the top-10 pit stop times in Baku here.
