Gasly wants to forget Baku soon: 'This was a very bad weekend for us'

Pierre Gasly has his sights set on Miami and hopes to put the race weekend in Baku behind him quickly. In a press release, Gasly talks about how disappointed with the weekend in Azerbaijan, but he is now fully focused on the next stage.
The race weekend in Azerbaijan was one to quickly forget for Gasly. In free practice, his car caught fire. In qualifying, he crashed in Q1. During the sprint shootout, he struggled with exhaust problems. And he finished thirteenth in the sprint and fourteenth in the Grand Prix, meaning Gasly left Baku without points.
Gasly hopes for better results in Miami than in Baku
"We’ve got to move on very quickly from this race weekend because it’s been very bad," Gasly said. "It is very far from what we have shown so far this year. We’ve got to understand to make sure it never happens again. We clearly are not where we want to fight, and where we should be fighting, so we’ve got to understand and make sure we don’t underperform that way in the future. We’ve got to focus on next weekend now."
In Miami, Gasly will be hoping for a better result. In 2022, the Frenchman failed to reach the finish line due to collisions with Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso. Until then, however, he drove in the points for AlphaTauri, and his new team Alpine also put in a fine result at the brand-new Miami circuit last year.
