Mick Schumacher has been at almost every Grand Prix this season, but for now, he will not get beyond a spot next to
Toto Wolff in Mercedes' pit box. The German is a reserve driver, and it seems out of the question that a spot in one of the German team's cockpits will become available for him anytime soon.
Despite two tumultuous seasons in which Schumacher took few points, he is still linked with teams he could potentially come out for. For instance, German media immediately suggested that Schumacher could replace
Nyck de Vries should the Dutchman be shown the door by AlphaTauri at some point this season. Incidentally,
Helmut Marko already denied that De Vries has to fear for his job anytime soon.
Wolff tries to influence Vowles
According to German medium
Sport1,
Logan Sargeant is currently unsure of his place at
Williams. The team is said to be dissatisfied with the performance of the American, who only debuted in
Formula 1 this season.
Sport1 reports that Mercedes team boss
Toto Wolff is trying to convince his former colleague
James Vowles, currently
Williams' team boss, to replace Sargeant with Schumacher.
According to the German website, Sargeant must show improvement in
Imola, Monaco and Barcelona if he is not to lose his seat. Should he fail to do so, the rookie could be replaced before the
Canadian Grand Prix, at least that is
Sport1's story.
