Verstappen again the favourite after Friday
Max Verstappen was immediately the fastest man on Friday when exiting the pit lane. The Red Bull Racing driver went fastest on every tyre, leaving every other driver who tried to come close to him far behind. It didn't take the Dutchman much effort either.
Verstappen drove fewer runs than the other drivers and even had time to listen in on Helmut Marko's phone over the team radio. Verstappen not only seems fast but also manages to minimise wear and tear on all parts of his car by driving the practice sessions as effectively as possible.
For FP3, not very different things are expected from the Dutchman. He will go for some qualifying runs and probably take pole position on Saturday afternoon without too much trouble. But who knows, maybe there will be another driver or team in FP3 who managed to find something last night after all.
Ferrari are fitted with upgrades, and Mercedes will finally get to see whether or not the changes made in Monaco actually give them a boost. At his home circuit, Fernando Alonso also shouldn't be ruled out.
