Leclerc after Ferrari win at Le Mans: 'I want to do this too one day'
Not Ferrari's Formula 1 team, but its endurance team got all the spotlight this weekend. While the Italians compete in the sub-top in Formula 1, the iconic brand did manage to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a hypercar. Charles Leclerc, F1 driver for Ferrari, watched the huge celebration from the pit box.
Commenting at Eurosport, Leclerc said of the win: "It feels absolutely amazing.Having a Ferrari winning is incredible on a return after so many years, so a very special edition. Unlucky for the second Ferrari, we had a small impact with a small rock on one radiator, so that made us lose a lot of time. But I am really happy that Ferrari won, it was an incredible experience."
Leclerc to run at Le Mans?
Max Verstappen has never made a secret of wanting to follow in the footsteps of Fernando Alonso, who has already won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice. Verstappen would like to compete once with at least his father, and possibly Alonso. Leclerc, too, definitely sees an appearance at Le Mans, he said after the event in the French city.
On the sports channel, the Monegasque said: "Why not? I would love to. It is an incredible event. For sure, one day in my life, I want to tick this box but when will it be? I don't know. Again, extremely proud of what Ferrari has done, it is crazy."
