'Palou could replace Perez and De Vries after IndyCar, Marko likes him'
- Toby McLuskie
While drivers and teams are busy at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, a juicy rumour is circulating. IndyCar driver Alex Palou would replace Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri after his IndyCar season. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko is said to fancy the Spaniard. However, this is not the only rumour about the musical chairs within Red Bull's team.
Can Palou replace Perez as well as De Vries?
After all, the IndyCar season lasts until 10 September. The Spanish Palou would then replace De Vries, according to rumours. So this is after the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. However, it does not stop at replacing the Dutch driver. At least, so F1 journalist Joe Saward tells us based on the rumours he received.
Should Palou have been convincing within those few months in the AlphaTauri that De Vries was first in, the IndyCar driver could replace Sergio Perez in Red Bull Racing's team for the 2024 season. Indeed, the team is said to be dissatisfied with Perez's current performance.
Ricciardo also woven into the Red Bull chair dance?
Red Bull would need a better second driver to help it win the constructors' championship. Should Palou not be ready to replace Perez after his season at AlphaTauri, Daniel Ricciardo would be up for grabs. The good-humoured Australian would then rejoin Verstappen.
We as GPblog are very curious to know what our readers think about this huge rumour, which is again wrapped up in all little rumours. Let us know in the poll below.
