Steiner: 'If even Ferrari fails, it's even harder for us'
- Sam Godber
As a major customer of Ferrari, the Haas F1 team is afflicted with the defects of the 2023 Ferrari car. The problem at Frederic Vasseur's team seems to be mainly in tyre wear. Haas team boss Guenther Steiner notices the same problem with his cars.
And that could be costly for the F1 team in the competition. The team is battling with Williams and Alfa Romeo in the rear for the seventh spot. With a shared P7 with Williams on a total of 11 points, it is crucial for Haas that the tyre problems are solved quickly to win this battle with 10 races to go.
Haas struggles with same problems as Ferrari
Speaking to the international press, including GPblog, the team boss explained himself further. He was asked about the problems the team seems to have inherited from Ferrari. Is it a problem or does it actually offer hope? Steiner: "You answered the question, there is neither here nor there, if they solve it, it's fantastic, because then hopefully we get a solution as well."
The other possibility is less favourable for Haas. Steiner: "But if they don't solve it, it seems like a big problem, because if they cannot solve it, it will be even harder for us, so it could be either-or."
