Ricciardo maybe having surgery? 'Doctors will decide in coming days'
It was a shock for many a Formula 1 fan when Daniel Ricciardo put his car into the wall and told over the board radio about pain in his hand. The Australian went to hospital and is currently walking around in a cast. Ricciardo and team boss Franz Tost react to the AlphaTauri driver's crash.
AlphaTauri team boss Tost talks about the consequences of Ricciardo's crash. "Maybe he needs surgery. The doctors will decide in the next few days. For a normal person, there are usually six weeks for recovery, but he is a Formula 1 driver, so hopefully the process will be shorter for him," the team boss told Viaplay.
Ricciardo and Lawson
Ricciardo is the replacement for Nyck de Vries, who was thrown out of the team because of his underperformance. With Ricciardo injured, Red Bull junior Liam Lawson replaces him for the rest of the weekend. How things will progress towards the Grand Prix at Monza is not yet known.
Ricciardo himself also reacted to his crash: "I’d love to get back soon, but I also want to ensure we do things the right way, so I come back strong and competitive. I wish the team well, and I’m sorry for the change in plans again. It’s a chance for Liam to have a go, and I wish him and the team a strong weekend."
