Sergio Perez comes out of the summer break recharged and full of energy. The Mexican thinks the summer break has done him good and is confident he will find the form of the first races this season again. The Red Bull Racing driver also looks back at the problems he struggled with during the season. Perez is looking forward to the challenge of feeling fully confident again in the RB19.

Perez expects to find form again

Sergio Perez had a strong season start with victories in Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan, but then the Mexican's form seemed to be completely gone. From the Miami Grand Prix onwards, teammate Max Verstappen consistently outpaced him, while qualifying results were also disappointing. Perez says the summer break has done him good and thinks he can find the right form again: "Yes, I really feel like that. I'm not where I want to be yet, where I was at the beginning of the season, where things were coming a lot more naturally to me. But we've done some good work as I say and I believe that we will only keep improving from now."

Asked if Perez could indicate what he struggled with over the course of the season, the Mexican replied:' 'It's quite complicated and I will have to go into more detail than I would like to. But it's just the sharpness basically at medium and high speed that I've been struggling with. And that especially when we had tricky conditions did change, takes away some of the confidence. But I'm OK with it, it's another challenge for me so I'm looking forward to that."

'Red Bull is just trying to build the fastest car'

However, the Mexican driver does not think Red Bull has fine-tuned the development of the RB19 to Verstappen's wishes. On that, Perez states: "I mean, I think at the end of the day the team is trying to make the fastest car. Sometimes the development suits one style better than another, that's just how it works."
