It was expected, but Daniel Ricciardo has now announced it himself. At the United States Grand Prix in Austin, he will be back behind the wheel of his AlphaTauri car.

Ricciardo returns after injury

Ricciardo has been unable to compete in Formula 1 since the Netherlands Grand Prix at Zandvoort due to a broken metacarpal he suffered in a crash. At an event in Nashville, where he is present for a demo run on behalf of Red Bull Racing, the Australian announced that he will get back behind the wheel in Austin.

"Yeah, I'm back. I’m excited," the AlphaTauri driver announced, according to The Athletic. His return means Liam Lawson will have to make way again after filling in for Ricciardo for five F1 weekends. The young New Zealander impressed in his first races in F1, scoring two points in Singapore, but in 2024 he will have to settle for a role as reserve driver.
