Rumours suggested
Sergio Perez would announce his retirement in Mexico. Prior to the US Grand Prix, Perez was asked about those rumours by Sky Sports.
Since the
Qatar Grand Prix, there have been many rumours surrounding
Red Bull Racing. There is said to be a power struggle between
Christian Horner and
Helmut Marko, but earlier, a rumour also surfaced that Perez might retire.
GPblog already understood from Red Bull Racing that this was not the case, and now Perez also denies the rumour himself.
What Perez did between Qatar and America
Sky Sports still wanted to check that the Mexican is not announcing his retirement next week.
"No, I'm not," is the
Red Bull Racing driver's short and concise answer.
Christian Horner already revealed that Perez has put in a lot of hours to prepare for this race weekend. Something he does not always do.
"I had a few days with the engineers to really go deep on the analysis. The last two races have been super difficult for us in terms of balance. Just to understand where we have been is really important for us."
When asked what Perez found, he replied: "The directions we were taking weren’t right for us. In Suzuka and mainly in Qatar, so we have a much better idea of where we are now," Perez concluded.
