Perez addresses his expiring contract at Red Bull Racing
16 February at 11:00

Sergio Perez may no longer be Max Verstappen's teammate in 2025. The Mexican's contract at Red Bull Racing expires after the upcoming season. However, Perez tells Sky Sports that there are plenty of opportunities at the moment if he has a good season.

During last season, there were already many rumours surrounding the Mexican. Towards the summer break, Perez had a dip in form. Daniel Ricciardo replaced Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri, and rumours circulated that the Australian would also replace Perez in 2024.

That did not happen, but Verstappen's Mexican teammate's contract will expire after 2024. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said back in January that drivers were lining up to drive alongside the Dutchman. There are even said to be some drivers who have offered themselves to the Austrian team for free.

Perez responds to expiring contract

However, Perez says he is not worried: "It doesn't bother me. It's part of my job. My contract is expiring, people know about it. I don't think that's the priority. I know that if we have a good season and if we get good results, there will be plenty of options out there. So my focus is on consistency throughout the season. That we make sure we carry on the form we start with and to be better race by race. If we are able to do that, we have a chance of fighting for the World Championship."
